TURIYA carries the meaning of pure consciousness. A student who wants to succeed needs to deepen his/her goals and objectives spiritually. This awareness needs to be practiced full time so that the goals and objectives can be fully achieved in life.The TURIYA Primary School Students Programme is a National Integration Programme that focuses on the social development of Tamil School students to form a positive culture and character to face the social challenges. This programme is a prevention programme and the concept of “Handholding” to ensure that students are taught with noble values and life skills to avoid engaging in any risky and delinquent activities while at school medium.
The programme targets 13,500 students of year four, year five, and year six selected from the state Tamil National Schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Pahang, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis.
The Turiya programme is based on the In -Group Training (LDK) approach and extracurricular activities that will be implemented in the form of camps and imaginative learning activities outside of school. The five main modules which are the core of the Turiya programme is inclusive of the following concept:
- National Integration.
- Social Behaviour.
- Crime and Social Symptoms.
- Healthy Living.
- Self -Confidence and Leadership.
The Camps and Trainings will be held for three days according to the special modules to be implemented by the experienced speakers and trainees based the expertise and requirements of the modules. The Turiya Camp programme also includes Training for Trainers (TOT) activities for speakers, facilitators, and assistants. A total of 2,100 facilitators need to be engaged early to implement the Turiya programme for the students.
